Bishop knows that this is a tightrope he’s walking on. If he insists on being too good, the other could take it as some sort of refusal or something. But if he gives in to what the primal part of his brain says to do, he could rush in too fast.

But when he feels the weight of Sawyers head on his shoulder he chuckles softly, “I don’t exactly fit the mold. I know. But it’s worked out pretty well for me so far…”

He reaches up to cup his face in his hands, looks him over a moment and then presses a kiss to his mouth that isn’t a rush of anything but warmth, “I will want you when you’re ready. I promise you that. I don’t care that you aren’t some pure unicorn or something. But you won’t be used like that again moving forward.”

Sawyer supposes the other is right in that. He's very... very different.

As he feels the other's hand on his face he closes his eyes after a second, feeling the other's lips against his own. There's warmth that blossoms from it, not just a primal response to his mate. He furrows his brow at the pleasantness of it.

"Can you do that again?"

Bishop doesn’t question it, he just leans in and kisses him again. The first one lingers a bit and the following two are softer, more…playful.

Sawyer lets himself relax, it takes effort to do so. He slowly starts to kiss back, though, he's fumbling a little with it. He pulls back after one of the kisses looking at Bishop.

"No one's ever kissed me like that."

Now that he’s been able to, all Bishop wants to do is kiss him. His eyes linger on the others mouth and then he hums lowly, “like what?”

"Like they're not trying to hurt me," Sawyer answers honestly. "Like... they want me to like it."

His own gaze lowers to the other's lips again.

Bishop smiles lightly, “…do you like it?”

Sawyer nods slightly almost embarrassed to admit it.

“You can kiss me whenever you want,” he murmurs lowly, nosing back in after a moment and stealing another kiss just because it felt safe to do so.

Sawyer nods and he kisses back and eventually ducks away to press his head against the other's shoulder again.

"Thank you."

Once more, he gathered Sawyer up in a hug and nosed against the side of his face, “from now on, you need anything, you come to me.”

Sawyer nods but he's not used to needing a lot or wanting anything. He doesn't say so and just nuzzles the other's shoulder something that feels natural. He wonders why he feels like he almost feels safe.

"Okay," he acknowledges.

Bishop is content for a while; just holding him in his lap, warm and as cliche as it was sounding — safe.

But eventually he kisses his temple and nudges him, “if you want you can take a bath and settle in.”

Sawyer could nearly fall asleep again like this, held in Bishop's lap, eyes closed as he rests on his shoulder.

"Okay," he agrees. Bishop will learn he's quiet, shy but also eventually he might slowly open up and talk more the safer he feels.

"Will you stay?"

“Yeah,” Bishop nods and stands up, keeping Sawyer held against him while he wanders into the bathroom. Sawyers is carefully set on the counter so he can turn the water on to warm, “bath or shower?”

It feels strange to be taken care of like this, to be held and brought to the bathroom. He worries at his bottom lip some as he stares at the other from the perch on the counter.

"Uhm," he flushes, making decisions is new to him. Even for such simple tasks.

"A bath," he finally says. He quietly pulls his shirt up, starting to get undressed so he can get washed up.

"Did you bring my things?" he asks, he didn't have much. There were worn clothes, a few tattered books and the like.

A bath it was. He flipped the plug into place abs let the water begin to fill before he added some bubbles; nothing severely scented or that would obscure his scent on Sawyer but still something nice.

He nods, “yeah, I did. But I also sent one of mine to pick you up some things, too.” Looking up at him, he takes in the details of him that were hidden beneath his clothes, “tonight you’re wearing something of mine though.”

It was a subtle show of dominance, he guessed.

Bubbles... Sawyer watches, fascinated. He's never had a bubble bath before. He can already start to spell the subtle pleasant scent and he pauses in undressing, his pants undone as he looks up at Bishop when he speaks.

He flushes at the other's comment and he nods. He won't argue that. He slowly pushes his pants down. He still had bruises some fresher than others all over his body, particularly his thighs and his ass. There were some on his stomach and a large one that's ugly and later in the healing stages on one side and around to his back.

He catches sight of them and then shifts nearly wanting to pull his clothes back on suddenly embarrassed of his mate seeing the marks left on him by other wolves. He tries not to dwell, though he doesn't look at the other as he tugs off his socks and then his underwear, letting the clothes drop. The counter is cold against his bare skin but he didn't move from where the other had put him.

The bruises were all mentally cataloged and Bishops jaw clenched at the sight of the large one that seemed to wrap around the others body.

He stands up and moves over to Sawyer, reaching to tip his chin up so he can see his face fully, “After your bath, I want the names of everyone who did that to you.”

Sawyer sensed the change in the other's body language and he seems to curl in on himself some when the other moves to him but he doesn't resist it as his head is tilted up. He swallows.

"Why...?"

Why does it matter?

"It doesn't matter anymore."

That was probably true. But in this moment, he was angry. Or he was.

It fades when he feels the other start to retreat—

“I’m sorry,” he tries to brush it off a little with a breathy chuckle, “instincts…”

Sawyer is still nervous. He knew somehow that the other wouldn't have hurt him but he's skittish. He nods, hesitating before reaching to bring the other's hand from his chin up so he can kiss his palm before letting it go, ears pink.

"I was used to this sort of thing," he says, bruises, broken bones, all sorts of things but it doesn't matter here. He might not fully believe he's safe or trust Bishop but so far he hasn't been hurt. So it doesn't matter.

"They're healing."

The kiss calms him; as sweet and simple as it is. All of the tension that had been in his body eases and he releases a little sigh.

“Do you hurt?” He asks quietly.

[bilocations]

"Not anymore than I'm used to," Sawyer says and he lifts a shoulder. "I am getting cold, though."

“Oh. Sorry,” he steps back and motions to the bath.
