“To be fair, you’ve been living with a poor excuse for a pack most of your life,” Bishop mutters, and gently tips the others head back so he can rinse his hair properly. And steal a brief kiss.
“I wish I’d found you sooner,” he sighs and sinks down a little lower in the water so he can wrap his arms around him a bit better without him getting cold.
Sawyer settles against him again when the other sinks lower. He closes his eyes and it feels safe enough to do so even if anxiety is still alive and well playing in his mind. He lets the other hold him. He doesn't say anything else, just content to enjoy the water, the closeness.
If the other shoe does fall at least... he'll have moments like these to remember.
Bishop can feel Sawyer drifting and chooses to remain quiet while he finishes washing him up. It’s a little while longer, and then he carefully climbs out of the bathtub with him and manages to dry him off.
“Come on, let’s get you to bed…” he murmurs and does just that. He would normally put clothes on him but it’s easier to just get him tucked into the bed like this.
Sawyer is half awake for most of the bath it's like his body is finally demanding the rest that he'd never really had now that it's allowed it. He's more awake by the time the other's tucking him into bed. He knows that he'd just woken up not long ago and he doesn't know why the other is letting him sleep more. Isn't there things he should do...
He can't argue with the comfort of the bed, though, peering up at him sleepily.
Sawyer nods and burrows down into the blankets and pillow more. It doesn't take long before he's asleep again and for several hours at least. He wakes up thirsty and gets a drink from the water bottle from earlier. He gets dressed and uses the bathroom before hesitantly making his way downstairs in search of Bishop.
He's a little jumpy and unsure of the new surroundings. What if there was someone else? What if this had all been some ruse... The paranoid thoughts linger as he finds Bishop.
It’s like having a mouse in his house but he knows he’s there before Sawyer even makes it down into the kitchen. A laptop is open with music playing and some papers strewn about as if he’d been working while bouncing back and forth between the barstool and the stove.
He looks over and smiles a little, “you look like you feel a little better.” He holds a hand out to the other and puts a lid back on a pot.
Sawyer does feel a bit better. He quickly looks over the area, seeing that the other has something he's apparently working on while cooking. He only hesitates a little when the other's hand is held out to him, moving close to him.
Drawing him in closer, he breathes him in just a little. Now that he’s had a bath and a lengthy sleep in his bed he just smells like Bishop and himself. No more traces of that other place or those people.
“You can look around if you want. Get familiar with the place.”
Sawyer bites his lip as the other scents him. He leans into him slightly. There's a little shake of his head at the offer. It seems easier to him if he just stays close to Bishop.
"Maybe," Sawyer says, his nose scrunching instinctively but he lets himself be held against the other's body, the scent of him even stronger now even though it's already all around him.
“Mm,” Bishop hums abs twists, catching Sawyers hand to lead him out of the kitchen, “you did. But I’m glad. Okay. Kitchen, obviously. Dining room—rarely used.”
He moves along, murmurs about the pantry, side door, and then continues on, “living room…doubles as my bed a lot of the time because I’m always out here…”
Sawyer looks down at their hands for a long moment where the other has his to lead him around. God, his hand is huge... Sawyer flushes a little at the thought and pushes his attention on what the other is saying. He listens carefully wanting to remember everything.
"Why?" he asks, the other has a perfectly good bed after all.
“I’ll probably spend more time in it now, but, I don’t sleep much at all.” He shrugs, “work a lot.”
Moving on he vaguely motions to the front door and the security system. That leads to a coat closet, a half bath downstairs and then another set of stairs different than the ones Sawyer had taken earlier; they lead to the same place, though.
“Bedroom…and…spare room, I guess. I haven’t done anything with it.” Could have done an office but why bother? The kitchen table and the couch work well enough.
Sawyer nods, and he's a little overwhelmed by the amount of space and the fact that it seems he's free to move about it on his own. His fingers tighten on the other's hand. The pack he'd been with before, quarters had been more crowded and where Sawyer had been living amounted to little more than a shed or closet.
Bringing him back to the kitchen he slowly lets go to check on the rice he had put on the stove, “Own a bar in town. I do most of the things from here but go in a few times a week to make sure everything is okay.”
Used to work there all of the time but he’d gotten into an accident at some point and had to work from home. It stuck.
"Oh," Sawyer acknowledges and he guesses that makes sense. He assumes that the other's pack must work there or around there or something like that. He lets go of the other's hand as the other is checking the rice and he glances around again. The question catches him off guard.
He thinks that no one's ever actually asked him that before. His eyes turn back to Bishop wide. Then again he didn't have a chance to do lots of things.
"I don't really know," he finally says, shuffling his feet nervously. "I like animals and books..." he adds. But he'd always had very little access to either thing.
Could turn the empty room into a little library of sorts, he supposes.
Turning off the stove, he sets the rice aside to cool off some. And his attention slides back over to Sawyer. He looks better now that he’s rested, and cleaned up. In fact, his features are…unique and bright. He smiles softly and gives a nod, “well , you have time now to figure it out.”
Sawyer nods and he guesses that might be true. He's still having a hard time believing it. His hand idly reaches up to where the other had bitten him, fingertips grazing the skin and he exhales.
“On the property. There are two more houses. Close enough to take care of each other, but still have space,” he nods and moves over to the laptop to stop the music and close it down.
“You’ll meet them once you’re ready. I didn’t want to overwhelm you…I know it’s a lot.”
